We all know how delicious Thai food is, and today to truly enjoy your stay in Bangkok you can not miss street food. The most affordable and tasty food you can find here, as some one once said “Eat where local eats” this is simply true because with so many delicious foods surrounding you, Thai people can be a little picky when it comes to food. Here are some of our recommended street food menus, restaurants, and how to get to them.

1. Moo Ping (Grilled sewers pork)

Sweet and savory skewers grilled pork, usually served with sticky rice, some of them may come with extra drip. One of Thailand’s most common breakfasts, and this menu is the easiest to find, there are Moo Ping stalls everywhere in the morning whether in front of schools, by the street, in a food court, or in front of your hotel. It’s also a budget menu, the price for Moo Ping itself is only 10-15 THB each and 5-10 THB for 1 small bag of sticky rice. If you are having this alone the price shouldn’t be more than 50 THB.

2. Pad Ka Prao

A well-known stir-fried dish usually uses minced pork or beef with Thai holy basil, garlic, chili. This is Thailand most common dish; everyone here loves it. If you cannot think of anything to eat Pad Ka Prao is the menu you will order without thinking. With its savory flavor, a little bit of spice from chili, a unique smell. It’s really the best dish we can think of, it’s also easy to find since most small street restaurants where there are a lot of menus cooked when ordered have it. It also has its own specialty restaurant where they only serve Pad Ka Prao. The menu is better with sunny side fried egg. The price can be different it could be from 45 THB – more than 1000 THB depending on where you get them and the quality of meat. Here are some suggestions for the Pad Ka Prao restaurant.

  • Phed Mark: A famous Ka Prao restaurant with multiple branches around Bangkok like Ekamai, Sukhumvit, with the recipe from a well-known chef and a youtuber Mark Wiens as co-founder. Starting from 105 THB.
  • Gapow Tapae : Also, a Ka Prao specialty with variations with different heat levels (not spicy → very spicy) and interesting protein options. Starting from only 99 THB and located at 39/1 Sukhumvit Road, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok.
  • Regular One-Dish meal restaurant located every conner around Bangkok with their on recipes, this kind of restaurant offers a quick and cheap menu starting from only 45 THB some of the best Ka Prao are here.

3. Hat Yai Fried Chicken

A unique fried chicken style originally from Hat Yai, a city in the Southern of Thailand. This type of fried chicken is known for its extra crispy and golden skin, the juicy and tender meat, flavorful seasonings, and served with sweet-spicy sauce, sticky rice, and crispy deep-fried red onions. A perfect combination for a perfect day to eat fried food. The price can be different depending on the chicken part you order starting from 25-50 THB per piece. It’s easy to find now since they not only have a small stall but some of them are attached to motorcycles and drive around selling this.

4 .Kuay Jub

A traditional Thai Chinese rolled rice noodle with rich broth flavored with pepper, garlic, and soy sauce. Served with various cuts of pork like crispy pork belly, braised pork, and Pork offal. It’s especially popular in Bangkok’s China Town area, and it’s a budget menu starting from 60 THB suitable for late night menu after party. Here are some suggestions for Kuay Jub stalls.

  • Kuay Jub Nai Lek (Auan): Located in Yaowarat Soi 11, this stall is famed for its peppery clear broth and crispy pork. With lots of people waiting to try, but once you have a taste it’s worth the wait.

5. Pad Thai & Oyster Omelet

These two manus always come in pair when you think of them most Pad Thai restaurant has Oyster Omelet, but some stalls sell them separately so I would put them together. For Pad Thai a famous stir-fried noodle served with shrimp, egg, tofu, and bean sprouts. It’s cooked with tangy-sweet tamarind sauce and delivers the balance of all flavors. On the other hand, Oyster Omelet is a fried dish. A crispy, savory omelet made with eggs, rice flour batter, and fresh oysters, served with a spicy chili sauce. 6. Yen Ta Fo

Pink noodle soup with seafood, tofu, and morning glory – made with fermented bean curd. One of the noodle types. Usually open as their own stall separate from other noodles. With its sweetness and light flavor combine with various fish balls and seafood. It’s easy to find at food court and some specifically stalls. The price is very cheap starting from 50 THB and some may have a special menu calls Yen Ta Fo Tom Yum which is a combination of Yen Ta Fo and the spiciness of Tom Yum.   • Nai Uan Yen Ta Fo: One of the most famous Yen Ta Fo restaurants located near Sao Ching Cha area, with 7 stand-alone branches and 9 more branches in food court.
  • Yentafo Kruengsonge by A. Mallika: A popular chain of Thai restaurants specializing in Yen Ta Fo with more than Yenta Fo included in their menu there are over 15 franchise branches all over Bangkok. You can Find one of the branches at Don Mueang Airport.
  • Tee Yen Ta Fo: Located at Maha Chai Road, Samran Rat and closes at 02.00 AM. With 5 more branches. It’s a late-night favorite for people coming back from a night out with spicy and bold flavor.

7. Mango sticky rice

Thailand most famous dessert, with the combination of yellow sweet ripe mango and creamy sticky rice toped with coconut milk. Taste it all together, and you will understand why it’s so popular. Unfortunately, to experience the most delicious Mango sticky rice you must try it during mango season which is when mangoes are most delicious. There are so many Thai desserts we want you to try which is why we bring this up as a separate suggestion. Thai desserts are well-known for their sweetness and delicacy. Thai desserts are said to be difficult to make but worth the wait. These are some names you may have heard of Steamed Pandan Layer Cake (Khanom Chan), Rice Balls in Coconut Milk (Bua Loy), Toddy Palm Cake (Khanom Tan), Kanom Krok, Lod Chong (Thai Cendol), and Foy Thong. There are still more of them, but they all usually stay in the same shop. Here are some Thai dessert shops suggestion.

9. Som Tum and Isan Food

Spicy Papaya Salad or Som Tum, known for its spicy and unique flavor. This is the menu from Northeast Thailand (Isan). It’s Thai people favorite menu and commonly serve as a menu to test if you can handle the spiciness. Along with Isan Food like Laab, Nam Tok, grilled pork neck, and sticky rice made it even more delicious and complete your meal with everything for your body. Low calories, rich in favor is what I would use to describe Isan Food.

10. Moo Kra Ta

Thai-style tabletop BBQ, a fun experience of dining usually a friendly or family diner meal. With dorm-shaped hot plate on top of coal you can have both BBQ grilled on the of it or Boil vegetables and noodles at a small edge of the plate. Some of them are buffets, some come to a set where you can order more of what you like.
