Songkran is Thai New Year celebration, held every April 13th-15th, It’s the most famous and biggest festival in Thailand. Known around the world for its playful water fights. In Thai culture Songkran is more than just splashing water for fun. In Buddhist and Thai tradition, Songkran Is a time for renewal and respect. During Songkran day Thai people often go to the temple at the morning to poured scented water over Buddha statues to wash bad luck away and start a new year with clean spirit.

What happened during Songkran day?

There are a lot of things happening during Songkran like mentioned earlier going to the temple to poured scented water over Buddha statues is one thing. Thai families also gather to pour water on the hands of elders to ask for blessings and forgiveness.   • Some roads are blocked, and public transport is very busy so you should plan your route.
