Northern nightlife
Chiang Mai is known to be the most popular tourist location besides Bangkok, so it’s 100% that during the night Chiang Mai will turn from historical, ancient city to a modern, trendy street full of neon lights and loud music. The best place to party here is Nimmanhaemin Road, the place is packed with many trendy bars and clubs. Since the place is not too far from university, you can expect bars and clubs to be full of young people dancing.
Chiang Mai is also popular for the night market whether it is Chiang Mai Night Bazaar or Sunday Walking Street. You can find handmade crafts, taste street food, and maybe try to get a laid-back feeling while exploring such lively markets, it’s a true magic Chiang Mai.
You can also spend and explore nightlife traditional way, once a year there is a festival called Yi Peng, Thousands of lanterns float into the sky and candles light the rivers, giving a magical nightlife experience unlike any club. Combine with the festival market, it’s an all-in-one package during Yi Peng.
If you are going to the southern side of Thailand, the nightlife will be a lot different from city-based bars to beach bar and pool party.
Phuket, the southern top destination. This place is definitely one of the most famous and enjoyable nightlife for southern of Thailand. The heart of Phuket nightlife is Patong Beach, at Bangla Road. You can find many nightclubs, bars, and neon lights lined up for you to choose.

Thailand’s most famous party, held monthly on Haad Rin Beach during full moon time. With thousands of visitors coming for neon paint, fire shows, and all-night dancing. The party is heavily crowded and can be messy, if you don’t like this kind of party this one is not for you.
Koh Lanta & Koh Lipe offers quieter and more laid-back vibe for beach parties; they are not loud or crowded. Still, they give a wonderful beach party vibe and still contain popular things like fire shows. These two islands are full of reggae bars or a casual beach bar, it’s more relaxing than walking around the street full of people and bars. Koh Lipe also has a night market for you to enjoy if you are not into partying.
You can still experience beach party without going to the southern of Thailand, by visiting eastern & central Thailand like Pattaya or Hua Hin.
Pattaya is also a popular party location full of beach clubs and festivals throughout the year. It also has Walking Street A neon street full of nightclubs, live music bars, and go-go venues. You can find fun bars, new friends and some exotic shows on the walking street but be aware of scammers. If you are coming to Pattaya for music festival, you will experience the beautiful beach view with loud music that you can not find anywhere in Thailand.
For Hua Hin it will be more relaxed than Pattaya but still lively. The beach bars are ideal for cocktails and views. And they also have night markets for you to enjoy.
