The Cha-Am Methavalai Hotel is located on the shoreline of Cha-Am beach, which is only a pleasant three hour 176 kilometres drive on Petchkasem highway NO. 4 from Bangkok and an even shorter forty minute flight to near by Hua Hin Airport via Bangkok Airways.

The Cha-am Methavalai has an impressive colorful façade of bougainvilleas and surprisingly the inside of the hotel doesn’t look too bad either. The hotel has been around for 15 years and it is faded but accommodations are clean and still in reasonably good condition. All the rooms are fairly basic and furnished in different shades of pink but they are more than generous in size with decent views of the pool and sea. The balconies are quite spacious and a sun bed would have been a nicer touch than the plastic chairs. Rooms in the Thai house have no views and are a little cozier with a larger bathroom. The pool is nice and shady albeit small for the property and the beach just across the street is not pretty but is lively. Facilities are limited and the location does not have very much to offer but there is a shuttle service to Hua Hin. A good 3 star hotel and the most enjoyable compared to the others in the area.
