Reviews
Excellent hotel and highly recommended, especially in view of the rate. After starting our holiday at the Royal River we decided to end it there it was so good. Staff very friendly and helpful, 5 minutes walk to the river taxi to get to the sites. Our room overlooked the river and had a very large balcony (make sure you ask for a front room and not a side room). Rooms were large, clean and comfortable. Service was excellent - our toilet seat broke and was repaired immediately and we were not charged extra for a late checkout. Breakfast was excellent.

It's a really nice hotel, and factoring in the rate, it's a FANTASTC hotel. Wonderful staff, very decent restaurant (and they'll cook for you any time of night!). We too, thought that it would feel out-of-the way, but taxis are about 60-100 baht to just about anywhere, and the shuttle boat is a great river tour for free, four times a day. We would ride it at sunset to River City and back, just to watch the Chao Prya and see the temples and Grand Palace light up. We did it every night! Lots of local color in the neighborhoods behind the hotel made for some nice walks. We've already booked our return trip. (BONUS: The "River Bar" next door has fantastic modern thai food, live music, and unbelievably low prices.)

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on the balcony with a cold bottle of Singha after a hot day of sightseeing. The Chao Phraya had a very hypnotic and relaxing effect. Contrary to the other reviewers, we did not find this location at all isolated, especially with the convenience of the hotel shuttle boat and the local express boat service. Make sure you get a room directly overlooking the river, not a side room.
