Reviews
My wife and I fell in love with the hotel on our first stay in March 2000. The one bedroom suite is spacious and beautiful, with a fantastic view of the city across the river. The hotel made you feel very welcomed even though the front desk check in, is alittle slow. The ambience of the common areas are extremly comforting and elegant. The food served at the hotel is as good as any establishment in Bangkok and the atmosphere while dining on the patio over the river is almost unbeatable. What a wonderful feeling to return to the hotel. After experiencing a true assault on your senses, while navigating the city of Bangkok, just getting aboard the well crafted wood boats and making that short journey across the river back to the sanctuary called the Peninsula is heavenly. Needless to say we have been back three more times since and even brought our 2 beautiful daughters. We will return once again with another family Dec , 2003.

Spent two nights at this incredible hotel in November 2002. I've stayed at luxury hotels throughout Europe, Asia and US, but they can all learn something from the Peninsula Bangkok. Absolutely perfect hotel. From location to [most of] staff. The only problem we encountered was at check-in. We flew in from Cambodia early and we were, for the lack of a better term, drenched in persperation. However, we were told that the room was "not ready." I doubt that this hotel did not have multiple empty rooms when we arrived. Morever, since I had already booked a deluxe room, the front desk should have simply upgraded us or, at least, provided us with moist towels and/or drinks. Unfortunately, the offer was not made and we waited nearly an hour while scores of other guest were quickly registered. That said, when we return to Bangkok, we will certainly stay at the Peninsula.

When I stayed at the peninsula it had only recently opened. We found some of the staff a little sharp and curt which shocked us as we had been to bangkok twice before and had found the Thai people extremely friendly. That said, the one bedroon suite was lavish and smart. To sumarise, a nice hotel, but not in the same league as the Oriental which is located on the opposite side of the river.
